Welcome to a world where color takes center stage and identity knows no boundaries. Through her work, Guusje Slagter invites viewers to rediscover the magic and beauty of nature within our own reality.
Born in 1994 and raised in the Netherlands, she has long been fascinated by the bright colors and playful textures of childhood objects such as Polly Pocket and My Little Pony. These early impressions continue to resonate in her practice, where vibrant textile forms come together to create immersive, tactile universes.
Her works are composed of carefully crafted “puzzle pieces”—organic shapes made from textiles and other materials—that are meticulously arranged with attention to color, texture, and refinement. Together, they form layered installations where detail and openness, softness and strength, playfulness and precision coexist.
The result is environments that invite touch, spark curiosity, and encourage a renewed awareness of the small, often overlooked wonders of the world.
